Sabah

S
abah is situated on the beautiful island of borneo and one of the thirteen states in Malaysia. It is the second largest states in Malaysia and shares the island of Borneo with Sarawak, Brunei, and Indonesia Kalimantan. I recommend Sabah as a best place for the retired to relax. Why? It is because many amazing places to see or visit and things to do here.

First day, activities is just only for sightseeing destinations where at Sabah it warmly welcome tourists from all around the world. I recommend the retired to visit Jesselton Point  Waterfront as a first place to go. It is one of the main attractions in Kota Kinabalu and formerly known as  Ferry Terminal. It located at north of downtown Kota Kinabalu, it complete with classic red English phone booths and scenic view. It open daily from 6am till 2am and ferry and terminal operates from 6am to 6pm. Besides for sightseeing, the retired also can enjoy the activities that I try to suggest. First activities is casual dining, where Jesselton Point Waterfront have offers they services. Here also provide many F&B outlets and stalls if you are one that likes to eat. Indonesian, Arabic and Thai is the examples of cuisine that available and you can choose either one. Last but no least, do not miss to some of yummy gelatos at Dream Cones. For those who like to fishing, you are welcome to spend evening fishing at the jetty and you have to pay RM10 for entry and bring your own fishing tools because it not provided. After a long day, you can catch the breathtaking sunset in evening and it suitable place to rest. For retired, it makes a perfect spot for a romantic outing too. Before I forget, I also want to recommend one thing, the retired also can go to handicrafts stalls and I quite sure you know what to do here. There are batik clothes, accessories and traditional wooden handicrafts.

The next day, I glad to bring you to Kinabalu Park. This is flora and fauna botanical paradise. It covers an area of 754 square kilometers and Mount Kinabalu Botanical Garden is the biggest attraction which peaks 12,455 feet above sea level and it open daily from 7am to 5pm. This place is suitable for the retired it is because lot activities can do here and may be you can explore yourself about the nature and it can gain your interest. However, you will charge if you enter to Kinabalu Park but the fee is affordable for all. Here, you can have guided walk activities, they will provide you a tour guide and you can go to look surrounds of Kinabalu Park, take pictures, see various flora and fauna but be careful.  Besides that, I also recommend jungle tracking activities here for those who are really active and like with nature, this is suitable activities for you. May be we also can have camping here but we need to take permission first.  At the same day, I bring you to PHS which stands for Poring Hot Spring. Some people say, your day will never perfect without swinging by PHS. De-stress and reduce the sores and aches of your muscles in the spring’s hot sulphuric minerals, deemed to have curing properties and very popular among the locals. Besides hot springs, there also other interesting areas in the park to be visited such as the butterfly farm, the Poring Orchid Conservation Centre, the tropical garden, the poring canopy walkway and the Rafflesia flower site. I recommend sightseeing activities here because there are lots of places and garden besides rest yourself. You can have jungle tracking, take pictures and learn about types of fauna. Like example about Rafflesia flower, it take 15 months to bud, yet only last one weeks in bloom. Then, you can also see various types of orchids flower and many types of colours at the Poring Orchid Conservation Centre. In addition, you can visit to Tropical Gardens to see mousedeers and deers.

Last day of our trips, I will bring you to visit Turtle Island Park which located at Sandakan. This park is safe for the endangered green hawksbill turtles and gives people or tourists opportunity to watch turtle landings. Turtle usually landings after dusk and they come ashore to lay their eggs at night, which you can stay if you want to watch. Besides that, you can observe the collection of eggs and I will recommend them to pass it to tourist to collect it and you can learn new experience there, group of mother turtles and releasing of baby turtles into sea. This activities can attract tourist to preserve turtles life. At night, I will let all of you to enjoy your own day with your couples and spent times each others before we go back and end our journey. I really hope that all the places and activities that I suggest is suit and make you all fun.
